About BBRB

BBRB (Black Boys R Beautiful) goal is to build and increase resilience among Black boys by increasing self-awareness, self regulation and developing positive attitudes towards their self-care.

With this goal in mind, BBRB offers mentoring, psycho-education, mental health workshops and community events focused on capturing and disseminating positive images of black males internationally throughout the transatlantic diaspora.

BBRB’s campaigns create safe spaces for our boys by focusing on helping them identify their resilience, increase  positive self-image which is essential for empowering black Boys and young men.

Educational workshops and community events will assist in our goal to  significantly contribute to building a supportive network and fostering positive self reflections.

According to the American Psychology Association, research suggests that people often see black boys through negative lenses — and that black boys can suffer the consequences.

In a study issued in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, it was found that white female undergraduates from the University of California, Los Angeles judged all children as equally innocent up to age 9 but saw black children as significantly less starting at age 10.

In a second study reported in the same article, police officers who viewed black boys in more dehumanized ways than they did white boys were more likely than other officers to use force against them in custody.
